The Many Causes of Power Failures

Electrical power, in the short span of two centuries, has become an indispensible part of modern day life. Our work, leisure, healthcare, economy, and livelihood depend on a constant supply of electrical power. Even a temporary stoppage of power can lead to relative chaos, monetary setbacks, and possible loss of life. Power outages can be especially disastrous when it comes to life-support systems making backup power in these situations absolutely critical.  This month's article takes a closer look at some of the obvious - and not so obvious - causes of power failures.

Cat Provides Power to the Navy - Journal Star (11/06)

 

The USS York, a Navy assault ship, will carry 5 diesel generators the size of a bus, provided by Caterpillar.  The bow of the ship contains 7.5 tons of steel used from the World Trade Center. The vessel was recently commissioned added to the Navy's fleet.  Click here to read more >>

Army Vehicle Powered by Electricity - Defense News (11/02)
